A documentary on America's most memorable weekly magazine, probing the phenomenon of the rise and fall of LIFE magazine, from its birth in 1936 as the brainchild of Henry Luce through its great, photo-journalism era to the eventual decline and final issue, December 29, 1972.

Richly illustrated interviews include Claire Booth Luce – widow of LIFE’s founder, editors Ralph Graves and Richard Stolley, writer Theodore H. White, drama critic Tom Prideaux and dozens of memorable examples of the magazine’s great photo-journalism.
