The film follows Jose, the middle of three children, as he struggles to cope with the multiple stresses of shelter life, uncertain meals, illiteracy, and parental abuse. It reveals the tenacity of a family slipping through the fraying safety net of social services, despite the best efforts of many caring individuals. It challenges the prevailing perspective on homelessness and family struggle.
Filmmaker Anthony Spirito spent nearly two years closely examining the lives of the Arroyo family. The result is a harrowing, yet tender portrait of the Arroyo's struggle for survival, seen primarily through the eyes of Jose
